fields

I like to be able to see. I love fields, you can see above and around and feel free. I have a chunk of memories involving fields, one of which being when I had to walk the field out the back door of our house to get to the waiting school bus in the early mornings. The world feels open in a field, just the way i like it.

boy meets girl

My friend Becca is marrying JT, they decided. Now they will torture the living hell out of each other for eons. I was a fresh innocent fawn when I met Becca, and then she introduced me to narcotic drugs, and we've been good friends since. They wanted me to take a few pictures of them together while they were here in Austin for a weekend. We got up early and drove around town looking for something they liked. Posed romance. I've never seen the "opposites attract" paradigm work so well, as it does with these two. I think they'll work out perfect!

line your eyes girls

....jus a little prep work involved. My mother. I think she's going blind, she needs those real scary close up mirrors to apply her make-up now. I always get ragged on for not wearing enough of it. Ooops!

foot action

These aren't my feet, but I just thought I'd make a mini foot posting. My feet are a size 6, stump toed tiny, and like my grandfather I've inherited the "hammertoe". Someday I will have it so bad that my middle toe will naturally hang over my big toe all day long. That will look nice.

floating leaf

I go running in the Greenbelt sometimes, and my favorite part of the trail is where I get to cross the creek. I get my shoes soaked, usually my shorts too if the water is high enough, and most of the time I stop to catch my breath and admire the running water. My zodiac sign says I'm a Pisces fish... all that I know is that something about being in and around the water feels like home. Actually, my childhood dream besides being born with a foreign accent that wasn't American, was to be a mermaid. I'd still like to have both wishes granted! I liked the leaf in this picture quickly floating by.... it reminded me of what my mom used to tell me. "Paige, our lives are in motion."

i'm gone to carolina

Me and my friend Kristi booked a white water rafting trip for Saturday morning down the Upper Pigeon river in Tennessesee. I didn't exactly put on my war paint for this ride, as Kristi joked I would, and there weren't any guns simultaneously shooting at us either, bummer! At one point I was hoping Kristi would fall out, for some added excitement....but she didn't. We both vowed that next time we'd just as rather go skyrocketing off of Niagra Falls in a blow up raft.

Travelling, as it always does, felt good. Kristi and Bill have a cabin in the smoky yonder mountains near Asheville, North Carolina. A really beautiful place... and it was heaven to sit on the front porch and still be somewhat chilled at night. We drank a little moonshine, played some cards and made fun of each other as much as possible. I took this last picture of Kristi in the car heading out of town. There is nothing like having the windows down, the music way up, and delightfully having the wind blow all around...

land of the free, home of the homeless and the brave

A few pictures from a few different view points from the 4th of July here in Austin, TX. I snapped this little girl holding her hands out like she wanted to hug the fireworks. I overheard her brothers behind me say "this is just like TV!" .... priceless comment. And I snapped the above picture from the window of my car of the homeless man pandering for gracious donors.

summertime swimtime

Just one reason I wish I was still an adolescent; to be able to waste summer days with your friends by a swimming hole either jumping off a board or swinging from a rope. There are dozens of great places in Texas to take a swim, a swing, a skinny dip...or just enjoy. I remember getting a ticket for entering a pool "off hours" a few years ago.... turned out to be a hell of an expensive ticket, despite the juvenile thrill. However you like it, fresh or salty, water is one of the best ways to cure the dog days of summer. I hope to add more swimming hole photos of various places soon. I found a local photographer that has a public pool series of photographs which I think are pretty good. Check out http://www.angiewest.com/ to see...

a miserable life

Oh to dog bathing. Something about it, I enjoy! Chuck loves the water... he literally pounces in anything water related to fetch a ball, a frisbee, or even a full tree limb. But when bath time comes along, he'll sheepishly wander away from the running water hose and pretend his name isn't Chuck. If Chuck was an actual person, we'd get into lots of trouble together... he'd be my childish mischevious sidekick. We would definately do some trespassing, a little antagonzing, and whatever we had to do for some attention that would warrant us some free food.
